A year of firsts

Looking back at our 2023 and ahead to 2024

Macro Oceans was founded on the idea that seaweed — a low-carbon crop that just needs sunlight and seawater to grow — should be a major part of how our society gets the things we need to have prosperous, interesting lives.

While that vision remains a work in progress (and like all big ideas, it will for some time), looking back I think we’ll always remember 2023 as the year we moved out of the lab and into the world. 

In April, we emerged into the world and told our story for the first time. Then we went on to:

• Launch our first product

• Do our first manufacturing runs

• Win our first customers

It hasn’t all been good news, but throughout it all we’ve been inspired by a number of others in the space — more than we could effectively name here — working tirelessly to build a low-carbon seaweed economy. 

As we look ahead to 2024, we’re pumped because we know we’re going to be super-busy:

• Scaling to meet demand

• Expanding our unstoppable team 

• Launching awesome new products to unleash seaweed’s superpowers
